At approximately 0730 hours on Monday February 4th Williamsport VFD and surrounding companies were alerted for a building fire at 1 Conococheague Street in downtown Williamsport. after arriving to find a working fire, the incident quickly escalated to four alarms. At 1030 hours Command requested the fifth alarm to be filled out. Washington County was depleted of resources and requested aide from surrounding jurisdictions. Hearing the request, the New Market Volunteers offered to answer the call. RE153(Chief Nalborczyk) responded on the call with 6 volunteers, with CAR1, U3, U17, and BAT902 also responding. Units staged at Williamsport VFD Station #2 until called to the scene by Command. RE153's crew was tasked with opening up and exposing hot spots on the second and third floors of the building. Due to the fact that the building was well over one hundred years old, and had many additions, the task took several hours. Crews were rotated through and eventually the work was completed. Crews proceeded to remove all of the debris and charred material from the building and the packed up. RE153 cleared at 1430 hours.
