On Thursday February 23rd at 1733 hours, Carroll County transmitted Box Alarm 1-15 for the house fire with possible entrapment in the 1900 block of South Main Street. E152 (DFRS Capt. Newman), U15/C15 (Chief Nalborczyk), and C15-3 (AFC Kennedy) responded with 11 personnel. MCC717 (Burns) arrived on the scene to find a two story single family home with fire showing from the rear portion of the structure. Within just a couple minutes fire involved the entire structure and was venting from all sides. The rapid intervention dispatch was started. CCC1 (Stull) arrived and established the South Main Street Command. CCE12 arrived and began an exterior attack on the structure. Multiple lines were pulled from the next arriving companies, including E152 and U15. C15 was given control of the Fire Attack Group. Crews worked for a few minutes to darken down the fire in the rear addition of the home and knock the fire in the original structure. A quick attempt at a search of the home was conducted, but the occupants were accounted for shortly thereafter, and all crews were pulled back to a defensive posture. Aerial master stream operations from TWR23, as well as numerous foam hand lines from CCE12, MCE713, and HCE41 were used to finally bring the fire under control. Crews operated on the scene for about 4 hours before the fire was declared out. The home was a complete loss and our prayers go out to the family who experienced this great loss.
