The New Market District Volunteer Fire Company is pleased to announce its receipt of a grant award from BGE in the Emergency Response and Safety Grant Program for $2,000.00 toward a Hurst Pedal Cutter. The funding will purchase a Hurst Jaws of Life mini cutter kit, which will be placed on Rescue Squad 15. This tool will allow us to gain access and extricate persons who are pinned in very close quarters. The most often use for the tool is to cut the foot pedals away from the victim in a vehicle. without this funding from BGE the equipment obtained would have been extremely delayed awaiting funding.

The New Market Volunteers are very excited about the continued partnership with BGE and we honor their commitment to this and many other grant programs which enhance the safety of the communities they service. The equipment funded by this grant will not only serve in the New Market Community but will respond with our new Rescue Squad to incidents in Frederick, Carroll, Howard and Montgomery Counties or wherever it may be needed.
