On Sunday May 7th at 2215 hours, Box Alarm 23-1 was sounded for a house fire on Tavistock Road in the Villages of Urbana. E152 (FF3 Williamson), RS15 (Sgt. Kline), C15-1 (DFC Moe), and D15 (Lt. Bowles) responded on the call with 9 volunteers. E231 arrived to find smoke showing from a two story end of the row townhome. The officer from E231 established command and requested the rapid intervention dispatch upon finding heavy smoke conditions and a sprinkler activated on the second floor. A159 responded on the RID with 2 volunteers. Crews stretched attack lines, conducted searches, performed ventilation, and controlled utilities. E231 found a dryer on fire and extinguished the fire in short order. Crews located two pet cats on the second floor and returned them to the home owner, who was overjoyed to see them okay. Crews picked up and cleared a short time later. BAT901 held the Tavistock Road Command.
