On Sunday May 21st, just as Company 15 units were returning from training in Springfield, VA, units from Company 15 were dispatched for a small building fire in the 6400 block of Green Valley Road. WCE81 was still standing by at Station 15, as they had covered the station while units were on the detail, and was also dispatched on the run. E152 (Sgt. Chapman), RS15 (Chief Nalborczyk), B156 (FF VanGrootenbruel), A159 (FF Woodcock), and C15-3 (AFC Kennedy) responded on the run with 15 volunteers. The Co. 15 units arrived to find a horse shelter on fire about 2500 feet off the road in the middle of a field. E152 was able to make it close enough to the building to stretch the 400' pre-connect attack line. The crews were able to protect the adjacent exposure building and then knock the fire in the involved structure. Command requested the full box alarm assignment, but with the quick work of the crews on scene, the additional units were cleared very soon after dispatched. C15-3 held the Green Valley Road command. Units operated for over 2 hours overhauling and hitting hot spots.
