Just before 0500 hours on Wednesday May 24th, the New Market District VFC was alerted to respond with A159 (Capt Hanagan) to Green Valley Road and Old Annapolis Road for a vehicle accident with entrapment. A few moments later, the location was updated to the 6300 block of Green Valley Road, bringing RS15 (Sgt. Chapman) and ET154 (FFIII Gamble) (reserve unit) to the call with 8 volunteers. The company 15 units arrived to find a two vehicle head on collision with two patients, one being heavily pinned. Battalion Chief 901 established command, and the company 15 units, assisted by Libertytown's RE171, went to work to extricate the patient. The extrication took about 40 minutes. A number of methods were used to extricate the patient, including a roof removal, dash lift and roll, and driver's seat back cut and base displaced. Both patients were transported by ground to trauma centers, due to aviation being down. This was Rescue Squad 15's first working rescue assignment.

We thank all of you for getting our son Jarrett out of his truck. He sustained multiple major injuries. It was a long year of recovery and we are happy to say he has 90% of the use of his leg back.
He remembers most of the details of the accident and all of you working together to get him out as fast as possible.
Keep doing what your doing it makes a difference in peoples lives.
