Volunteers Quickly Extricate Single Patient on I70

Just after 3am on Monday October 2nd, units from New Market and Mt Airy were alerted to Interstate 70 in the area of the 65MM for a reported vehicle accident, car into a skid-loader. A159(EMS Sgt Cribb), RS15(FF3 Williamson), E152(FC Nalborczyk) and D15(LT Bowles) responded with a total of sixteen (16) volunteers. First arriving CCM18 found a car that had in fact struck a skid-loader and had a single occupant trapped. RS15 arrived and stabilized the car and extricated the patient, E152 arrived and deployed a line for protection. CCM18 transported an occupant to Shock Trauma with non life threatening injuries and A159 provided care to the skid-loader operator. D15 had the I70 Command, RS15's OIC served as the Rescue Group Supervisor and E152's OIC was assigned as the Incident Scene Safety Officer. Units operated for roughly 30 minutes before returning to service.
