On Sunday January 7th at 1325 hours, Box Alarm 1-6 was alerted for a house fire at the intersection of Falling Green Way and Ridge Road in Mt. Airy. Units arrived to find a large single family home with fire from the roof. E152 (FC Nalborczyk) was alerted to replace first alarm units and responded with 6 volunteers. E152 arrived well ahead of dispatched running order and was ordered to the second floor to assist with fire attack. Fire was found mostly in the attic area, and was held in check by the first alarm units. E152 assumed the Division 2 supervisor role. RS15 (FF3 Kline) was alerted on the rapid intervention dispatch and responded with a crew of 4 volunteers. The units operated a a couple hours before the fire was extinguished. A tanker task force was also added to the call due to being a non-hydrants area. Carroll Chief 14-2 held the command.
