On Thursday October 18th at 2113 hours units were alerted on Box 23-10 for a house fire in the 9300 block of Ball Road. E152 (AFC Bowles) and RS15 (FC Nalborczyk) responded on the box with 10 volunteers. C2-1 (Hahn) and C23 (May) arrived simultaneously to find a 2 story house with fire showing from the second floor and exterior of the home. C23 established the Ball Road command. A rapid intervention and tanker task force were requested by command. E232 and ET233 began an interior attack on the fire, with C2-1 as the Division 2 supervisor. RS15 arrived as the first special service and began searches of the structure and opened up for the engine companies. E152 stretched a backup line to the fire floor and helped to extinguish the heavy volume of fire there. Fire was found to be located in the basement, as well as the first and second floor, and the attic. It appears the fire extended from the chimney and into the walls. Crews worked extremely hard to get ahead of the fire and were able to keep it in check with an interior attack. Due to the rural nature of the area and extremely long driveway, a tanker shuttle and dumpsite operations were established part of the way up the lane. This was transitioned to an on-site drafting operation when a large pond was discovered adjacent to the dump site. Crews operated on the scene for a few hours to overhaul the structure and ensure all hot spots were extinguished. A great job was done by the companies on this fire to stop a well-advanced fire.
