At 2109 hours on Friday, March 21, 2014 units were alerted on Box 15-10 for the barn fire in the 5100 block of East Hyatt Road. E152(Lt. Conaway), RE153(Capt. Thews), A159(EMT Rosebrock), and C15(Chief Nalborczyk) responded on the call with a total of 14 volunteers. While enroute to the fire units were advised by ECC that they believed it was a working incident and C15 requested the tanker task force. RE153 arrived on the scene to find a 30' by 50' barn with fire showing through the roof. E152 laid their supply line back the lane and immediately started operations with the deck gun. C15 established the East Hyatt Command and assigned E152-A as the Fire Attack Group Leader. Tanker fill sites were set up by E709 and E31, with C3(McNeal) being the water supply officer. Crews from E152 and RE153 pulled a leader line and crosslay to extinguish the remaining fire once the deck gun operation was ceased. TWR23 also utilized their aerial master stream to knock down hot spots remaining among the roofing materials. Crews operated for several hours before the fire was declared out by Command and the final units cleared around 0130 hours.
