On Monday April 14th at approximately 1130 hours units from Company 10 were dispatched for wires down and on fire on Catoctin Hollow Road just off of Route 15 in Thurmont, MD. Units arrived to find a one acre section of woods burning on a steep hill alongside the roadway. Additional units were requested, including a brush task force. After about an hour, command made a request for any available personnel in the county to respond. The New Market Volunteers answered the call with 8 volunteers between B156, E152, and CAR15. The crews from New Market worked alongside other companies and Maryland Department of Natural Resources personnel to extinguish and contain the fire. It was declared out around 1600 hours, over four hours after starting. The fire consumed about four acres in all.
