On Saturday May 31st at 0137 hours units from New Market, Mount Airy, and Libertytown were alerted for a vehicle accident with rollover on Interstate 70 eastbound at Green Valley Road. A159(FF Stearn) and RE153(Lt. Conaway) responded with 9 volunteers. Units arrived to find a single vehicle rolled over in the median of I-70 eastbound between Adventure Park and Green Valley Road. RE153-A established the I-70 command as the crew began to evaluate the situation. There were at least 5 patients found, with one trapped in the vehicle. Command requested an EMS task force as the crew of RE153 began to stabilize the vehicle. Command also requested aviation due to the nature of injuries. CCR1 arrived and assisted RE153 with the extrication. Crews worked for about 30 minutes in all to extricate, triage, and transport all patients. Good job by all.
