On Thursday, July 3, 2014 the New Market District Volunteer Fire Department was awarded a $119,000 federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant. The annual grant program, run by FEMA, provides funding for fire departments across the nation to purchase fire apparatus, equipment, turnout gear, and many other projects. The NMDVFD was awarded a grant to purchase the following items:

- Twenty Six (26) sets of Turnout Gear
- Three (3) RAD-57 Carbon Monoxide Monitors
- A new Amkus portable hydraulic rescue tool pump
- A new high pressure air bag system
- Two (2) Thermal Imaging Cameras
- A Lifesafety Rescue Net for use with our water rescue team

This equipment will help the department better serve our community and lessen the strain on our funds as we continue to pay for our new fire engine and building renovations. We thank everyone for their continued support.
