Engine Co.15 takes in 5th Due Fire while filling in at Westview FS31

On Tuesday July 29th, Engine-152(FF3 Lawson) took on the fill-in assignment at Fire Station 31 (Westview) while the career and volunteer members paid tribute to Past Chief Mark Fisher who lost his battle with cancer, New Market Volunteers send their deepest sympathy in such a loss to our neighbors.

While covering Westview the crew from Engine-152 was familiarizing themselves with the area, station and response procedures when Frederick ECC alerted Box Alarm 1-8 for the Apartment Fire in the 1400blk Key Pkwy, Engine-152 responded 5th Due on the Box Alarm. While responding ECC provided several updates stating unknown apartment number and multiple reports of smoke. First arriving Engine Co.1 went on the scene with smoke showing from a 3 story wood frame apartment building. 4th due Engine Co.20 advised they had thier own hydrant in the rear of the building, Engine Co.15 arrived and staged the unit at an additional hydrant on Key Pkwy at the entrance to the complex, the crew reported to Command as per SOGs and was ordered to assist with Search and Rescue Operations, the crew performed the primary on all exposure apartments and the secondary on the fire apartment. Crews operated for about 30 minutes before command scaled the assignment back to 2 & 2.

Engine Co.15 returned to Westview for an uneventful remainder of the day.
