At 2313 hours on Monday October 27th units from New Market and Mount Airy were alerted for a vehicle accident with rollover on the ramp from I-70 west bound to Route 75. A159(FF Rosebrock), E152(Sgt. Chapman), U15(Chief Nalborczyk), B156(Tech. Fossett), and C15-1(DFC Moe) responded on the run with 16 volunteers. RE171 was added to call by Frederick ECC as CCR1 was running another assignment in Carroll County. Co. 15 units went on scene to find a single vehicle rolled over with one occupant pinned halfway underneath the vehicle. Co. 15 worked to stabilize the vehicle and the patient while awaiting the arrival of a rescue squad. Chief 15 established command and requested aviation for the single patient. B156 set up the helicopter landing zone at Food Lion of New Market. CCR1 was able to clear their initial call and was the first rescue squad to arrive. The crews from CCR1 and Co. 15 worked to set up the Rescue 42 struts and a tie back system to make the vehicle stable. Hi lift jacks were then used to lift the vehicle off of the patient and the patient was removed from the vehicle. The patient was extricated in about 30 minutes. The patient was treated by A159 and M17 and ultimately transported by ground to Meritus Medical Center. Units cleared a short time later. Good Job by all involved in quickly and efficiently freeing the patient.
