New Market Volunteers Run 3 Alarm Fire in the City

At 0044 hours on Monday, November 3rd units were alerted on Box 3-4 for smoke in the house in the 300 Blk of South Market Street. Initial units went on scene with heavy fire from the rear of a 3 story rowhouse. A rapid intervention dispatch and 2nd alarm were quickly requested by command. The fire had consumed the original fire building and was extending into 4 other units on either side of the fire building. RE153 and E152 were alerted to fill the assignment on the 2nd alarm. RE153(Sgt. Chapman), E152(Lt. Williamson), U15(FF Gamble), and C15(Chief Nalborczyk) responded with 13 volunteers. The Co. 15 units were put to work immediately upon arriving on the scene. E152's crew went to the main fire building to relieve the first alarm crews and RE153 was sent to one of the numerous exposure buildings to stop the fire from extending. Command requested a third alarm a short time later. All crews worked for several hours to place the fire under control. All units did an outstanding job in controlling this fast moving fire.
