On Sunday November 16th, 50 volunteers came out to participate in several mandatory events. Recently the DFRS has found funding to afford each riding position in Frederick County with new Scott 5.5 SCBAs to include new Scott HT Facepieces, currently a Firefighters facepiece is the weakest portion of their protective ensemble, however after the new SCBA goes in to service that will no longer be the fact. Volunteers also put in two hours learning about the latest and greatest response procedures for suspected Ebola cases, this training was made mandatory for our volunteers by DFRS and enforced by EMS LT Sullivan, this training served as a great learning point for our volunteers to assure they understand the appropriate procedures to assure your and our safety.
