New Market Volunteers Run Door Pop on I-70

On Saturday January 31st at 1502 hours, units from New Market and Mount Airy were alerted for a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 70 westbound just prior to Exit 62. A159 (Lt. Sullivan), RE153 (Sgt. Chapman), E152 (AFC Thews), B156 (J. Fossett), and C15 (FC Nalborczyk) responded on the call with 18 volunteers. Units arrived to find a single vehicle into a guardrail in the median of I-70 behind the fire house. Crews found a single patient with priority 3 injuries. The crews of RE153 and E152 went to work stabilizing the vehicle and removing the drivers door to gain access to the patient. The patient was extricated within a couple minutes and moved to A159. Units cleared the scene a short time later.
