New Market Volunteers Respond to Car in Water

On Saturday January 31st at approximately 2245 hours units were alerted for a vehicle in the water at the Monocacy Boulevard boat ramp to the Monocacy River. Units arrived to find a sedan partially submerged near the end of the ramp. Command was established. Boat 15 and Boat 14 were alerted to fill the assignment, as the first two boats failed to repsond. B156 & BT15 (FF D. White), and RE153 (AFC Thews) responded with 6 volunteers, including 5 swift water technicians. All swift water resources reported to C2-2. Q11 utilized their aerial ladder to extend out over to the vehicle to check for occupants. The vehicle was found to be unoccupied. Command had Trooper 3 conduct a downstream search for any victims with their infrared camera. Units cleared a short time later. The vehicle was later determined to be stolen and had been abandoned in the river.
