On Tuesday, September 15th at 1315 hours CCM19, while transporting a patient to the hospital, came across a vehicle collision on Interstate 70 Westbound in the area of Bill Moxley Road. A low boy trailer had become detached from its tractor and was struck by a pickup truck hauling two cars. The resulting collision left one occupant trapped and two trauma patients. A159, RE153, E152, B156, U15, and C15-3 responded on the call. RE153 arrived and established the I-70 command. RE153 began stabilizing and extricating a single trapped occupant in the pickup truck. BAT901 assumed the command and requested aviation for a serious trauma patient. Both sides of the interstate were shut down for Trooper 3 to land. The patient was extricated quickly and all patients transported. The HIRT resources were requested to assist with controlling a fuel spill on the scene. Units cleared a short time later.
