On Wednesday January 6th at 0355 hours Box 23-18 was sounded for the house on fire in the 8300 block of Ball Road in Urbana. The initial units found a well advanced fire that was through the roof of a single story house. A Rapid Intervention Dispatch and Tanker Task Force were quickly requested by Chief 23 (May), who established the Ball Road Command. An interior attack was established and units operated for some time before the fire was brought under control. E152 (Lt. Hanagan) responded on the RID with a crew of 6 volunteers. The crew was initially tasked with filling out the RIT team but was rotated into the overhaul process. Crews operated for several hours before clearing.
