On Tuesday June 21st around 1900 hours, as a line of strong thunderstorms hit the region, Box 15-21 was struck for the house fire in the 13700 block of Old National Pike in Mount Airy. E152(Lt. Hanagan), RE153(Sgt. Chapman) and C15-3(AFC Kennedy) responded on the box with 10 volunteers. First due CCE12 arrived to find fire showing from the first floor of a two story apartment building. The Rapid Intervention Dispatch was requested, bringing A159(FF Garst) with 2 additional volunteers. Co. 15 units arrived shortly thereafter and joined the attack begun by CCE12. The crews made quick work of the fire and performed extensive overhaul on the fire building. Crews found smoke on the second floor, but no extension. Units remained on the scene for several hours. Chief 15-3 held the Old National Pike Command. |
