The New Market VFD and surrounding companies responded to a reported drowning in Lake Linganore on Friday July 8th at 1543 hours. A159, RE153, E152, U15, BT15, B156, C15-2 and C15-1 responded on the call with 19 personnel. Units began searching for a victim who reportedly was swimming in the lake and was last seen clinging to a log near Nightingale Beach. Several swift water technicians from Co. 15 began a immediate search of the last known location of the swimmer. The search was aided by the dive team from Woodsboro VFD and later by Gamber VFD of Carroll County. Crews finally located the victim around 1800 hours. Unfortunately the victim was deceased due to the length of time they had been submerged. Chief 15-1(DFC Moe) held the Lake Linganore Command. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim.
