The New Market Volunteers were called to assist with search and rescue operations last evening in Ellicott City, MD. The downtown area was hit by serious flash flooding. Residences and businesses were not expecting this occurrence, so many vehicles, buildings, and residents were caught up in the floodwaters. Boat 15 was requested at 2030 hours and responded with three volunteers. They assisted with various operations, including evacuating residents, checking for hazards, and surveying damage until the early morning hours. Our prayers go out to the residents of Ellicott City for a quick recovery.
