At 1606 hours on Thursday August 18th, Box 17-30 was sounded for the house fire in the 11000 block of Horseshoe Drive. E152(LT Williamson), RE153(DFRS Capt Newman), U15(Tech Lawson), B156(Capt Conaway), A159(DFRS FF Metzger), and C15-3(AFC Kennedy) responded on the call with 18 personnel. Several off duty firefighters who live in the area arrived to find fire showing from the delta side attic of a single story rancher home. C11-1 (Barrick) arrived and established command, confirming the reports of a working house fire. All occupants were reported out. E172 arrived and stretched two lines to attack the fire from the delta side extra and through the front door. Both engines from Co. 15 arrived just behind E172 and assisted with these efforts. Unfortunately the fire had burned unchecked for 10 minutes prior to fire department arrival and the roof began collapsing shortly after fire attack had begun. All units were ordered to evacuate and regroup. A quick knock of the flames was done with multiple attack lines and units re-entered the home. At least one cat was removed by firefighters with minor burn injuries.

Water supply for the fire ground was established via a supply line laid about 1500 from Equestrian Way and Horseshoe Drive to the incident scene. Folding tanks and a tanker shuttle operation were initiated. A fill site was established on Old Annapolis Road. Chief 11 (Williams) was the Water Supply officer.

The fire was fully knocked down about 30 minutes after fire department arrival, with extensive overhaul operations performed by crews on the scene. Canteen 1 responded to assist with rehab efforts.
