Collision on Fingerboard Road Leads to Three Flyouts

On Saturday August 20th at 1525 hours units from Green Valley, New Market, and Urbana were alerted for a vehicle accident with rollover in the 4200 block of Ed McClain Road. RE153 (Sgt. Kline), C15-3 (AFC Kennedy), and C15-2 (AFC Betts) responded on the call with 9 volunteers. Co. 25 units arrived and advised of a corrected location of Route 80 and Ed McClain Road. ET254's officer established command and began assessing the situation. There were multiple patients, with at least two being traumas. Aviation was requested for two trauma patients. Chief 15-3 arrived and assumed command of the incident. Units confirmed that there were at least eight patients and additional EMS units were requested. E152 (Capt. Nalborczyk) with 6 volunteers, was added to the call to set up a landing zone at Green Valley Elementary, but was later diverted to block the approach to the scene. A second helicopter was requested to fly a third patient out with a serious hand injury. Trooper 2 landed at the scene and transported two trauma patients, while A259 transported a trauma patient to the MSP hangar to meet Trooper 1. In all four patients were transported, with another four refusing care.
