On Wednesday April 25th at 1427 hours, Co. 15 and 33 units, along with Medic 23, were alerted for a vehicle accident with rollover and one on fire in the area of Interstate 70 eastbound and the 61 Mile Marker. A159 (DFRS ), RS15 (DFRS Lt. Hubler), E152 (Capt. Thews), C15 (FC Nalborczyk), and C15-2 (AFC Betts) responded on the call with 12 personnel. Co. 15 units arrived to find an SUV rolled over into some trees and a creekbed on the westbound side. C15 established the I-70 command, while the rescue squad and engine crews evaluated the situation. There was no fire involvement, and the two occupants self-extricated prior to arrival. There was a slight hazardous materials concern, with oil and vehicle fluids running into a creek. The Co. 15 crews damned the creek and laid down absorbent to capture the fluids and prevent environmental damage. Two patients were transported to area hospitals.
