On Tuesday July 24th at 2300 hours, units from New Market along with Medic 23 were alerted for a vehicle accident with rollover and entrapment in the 4800 block of Mussetter Road in Ijamsville. A159 (EMS-II LeFever), RS15 (FF3 Eaves), E152 (FC Nalborczyk), C15-1 (DFC Kennedy), and C15-3 (AFC Bowles) responded on the incident. The Co. 15 units arrived to find a single vehicle rolled on its side with one occupant trapped. C15-1 established the Mussetter Road command. Aviation was requested early on due to the severity of the injuries to the patient. RS15 and E152 worked to stabilize the vehicle with Rescue 42 struts and then extricated the patient. The patient was extricated within 10 minutes of dispatch. The patient was handed over to the EMS units, who transported the patient to the hand trauma center in Baltimore, MD due to the inability of MSP aviation to land at that facility. Units cleared a short time later.
