Engine, Squad, and Chiefs Respond to Mount Airy Building Fire

On Thursday February 7th at 0018 hours Box 17-43 was alerted for a building fire in the 14300 block of Harrisville Road in Mount Airy. E152 (FF3 Bloodgood), C15-1 (DFC Kennedy), and C15-2 (AFC Bowles) responded on the box alarm, while RS15 (AFC Thews) responded on the rapid intervention dispatch. A total of 10 New Market Volunteers responded on the box. C17-1 arrived to find a large equipment storage building fully involved and beginning to collapse. CCE12 and E172 laid out nearly 3000 feet of hose and multiple attack line were deployed. E152’s crew operated a 2 1/2” line for about two hours, while RS15 assisted with opening up the walls to gain access to the fire. C15-2 was the Water Supply Officer, coordinating the tankers from the box and tanker task force. Crews operated for over 3 hours before clearing the scene. C17-1 held the Harrisville Road Command.
