At 2200hrs on Monday September 16th, units were dispatched for a report of a basement fire on Box 15-2 to the 5700blk of Heatherwood Ct. E152(Sgt Parrish), RS15(FFIII Lawson), A159(EMSII Henry) and C15(Nalborczyk) responded on the run with 14 volunteers. Fist arriving E152 found a 2 story single family detached home with smoke showing from the 1st floor. C15 arrived and asuumed the Heatherwood Ct Command. E152 advised they had moderate smoke on the 1st floor and were proceeding to the basement, Command completed the 360 revealing smoke throughout the structure and requested the Rapid Intervention Dispatch. E152 found a small fire in the basement and extinguished such, backed up by E251. RS15 performed searches, controlled utilities and performed salvage and overhaul as well as assisted with ventilation. Units operated for just shy of an hour, the assignment was quickly scaled back to E152, E251, RS15 and TR41 before the remainder of the Box Assignment arrived. The American Red Cross was on the scene to assist the family with their needs.
It shall be noted that while this incident was taking place additional New Market Volunteers staffed two additional EMS units, A158 from their own quarters and A409 from the Great Frederick Fair.
