On Wednesday, December 4th at 2204 hours, Box 15-5 was alerted for the reported house fire in the 6600 block of Edgewood Road in Lake Linganore Pinehurst. E152, RS15, A158, SUP15, DIVE15, U15, Chief 15, Chief 15-1, Chief 15-2, Chief 15-3 and Chaplain 15 responded on the call with 32 volunteers.

While enroute units were advised that multiple calls were being received of a working house fire and the Rapid Intervention Dispatch was requested. Chief 15-1 (Kennedy) arrived on scene to find a single family home with heavy fire showing from the A side. Co. 15 units immediately went to work with multiple attack lines from E152 and simultaneously began search and rescue efforts. Fire on the front porch was quickly knocked and crews proceeded to the basement and first floor to attack large volumes of fire in both locations. A fire task force was requested to assist.

Fire was located throughout, and despite numerous access issues, Co. 15 crews made their way inside. Hoarder conditions inside the home made its extremely difficult to locate and extinguish the fire. The fire was knocked down within 15 minutes, with fire remaining in multiple void spaces that took some time to bring under control. E331 and E251 assisted with the fire attack efforts in the early phases of the incident.

During this incident, 3 members of RS15’s crew fell through a burned through portion of the first floor into the basement. All three quickly self-extricated and were able to regroup outside the structure. Only minor scrapes, cuts, and bruises were suffered by the crew. Several pets were not as lucky and were recovered by crew members.

Chief 15-1 held the Edgewood Road Command, while Chief 15-2 was assigned as Division 1, and Chief 15-3 had the Basement Division. Units operated on the scene until 0200 hours.
