At 1819hrs on Tuesday the 15th of September, A159(EMT Srebnick) and RS15(FF3 Constantine) were alerted for a motor vehicle collision at Old National Pike and Detrick Road after units responded the assignment was updated to a motor vehicle collision with confirmed entrapment and multiple patients bringing A158(EMS Capt Jones), E152(FF3 Lawson), SUP15(FF3 Klingensmith) LT15-1(Chapman), LT15-2(Kennedy) and C15(Nalborczyk) with twenty-one (21) personnel to the scene. First arriving off duty Montgomery County Fire/Rescue Services Fire Marshall reported two car collision with multiple entrapments and multiple patients. First arriving units went on the scene and went to work stabilizing the vehicle and developing a rescue plan, while EMS units triaged the patients. C15 arrived and established and maintained Command. LT15-2 was assigned to assume the role of the Rescue Group Supervisor working with the Rescue Squad and the Support Unit. The first patient was extricated within minutes, the Rescue Group would find the second patient to be pinned in the vehicle and that it would be a prolonged extrication. Aviation an additional Ambulance and Medic Unit was requested for the escalating incident. CCE12 established and Landing Zone at the Gavers Farm on Detrick Rd and CCD1 assisted with the escort of the flight crew to the scene. BC901 served as the Incident Scene Safety Officer and EMS901 served as the Medical Group Supervisor. Units operated on the scene for just over an hour, resulting in one patient being flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma and two patients being transported by ground to receiving facilities.
