Vehicle Accident with Entrapment in Urbana

On Thursday November 12 at 0555 hours, Chief 15-2 came upon a pick up truck that collided with a tractor trailer and was pinned underneath on Fingerboard Road at the Urbana 7-Eleven. One patient was found to be trapped and pinned. Chief 15-2 immediately established command and requested the assignment. Rescue Squsd 15 responded with 5 personnel. Engine 231 arrived on the scene, stabilized, and utilized their portable pump to start removing the driver side door and also deployed a hand line for safety. Ambulance 239 medic 23 initiated patient care. Battalion 901 arrived on the scene and held the rescue group supervisor. Rescue squad 15 arrived and assumed the extrication duties, removing both the passenger and driver side doors. The patient’s legs were found to be still pinned, so RBE709 utilized their winch to pull the pick up truck from underneath the tractor trailer, so they a dash roll could be performed. Once the pick up truck was removed from the underneath the tractor trailer, the extrication resumed and a dash roll was performed to free the patient. The patient was then handed over to EMS for further care.
