Wednesday Night Crew Takes in House Fire

On Wednesday May 26th, around 1820 hours, New Market’s Wednesday evening duty crew started off early with a Rescue Squad transfer to Howard County station 13 (Glenwood). RS15 (Sgt. Klingensmith) transferred with 4 volunteers. Shortly after arriving Howard communications added RS15 to Box Alarm 11-11 in Scaggsville as an air unit. RS15 cleared a short time later and transferred to Howard County station 3 (West Friendship). At 1940 hours E153(Asst. Chief Bowles) with 5 volunteers was a alerted for a building collapse in Lake Linganore. While in route Box 15-16 was sounded for smoke from a house on Woodcrest Rd. E153 diverted to the house fire. E153 was first arriving and found a two-story single-family detached dwelling with smoke showing and establish the command. Command asked for a rapid intervention dispatch. E153 found a small attic fire and quickly extinguished. At this time RS15 was clearing Howard County and was added to the box alarm to replace units that had failed on the initial assignment. Command soon after scaled the assignment back to two engines and one special service. Ambulance 158 also responded on the box alarm and established rehab. B156 (Olson) responded to the investigation of a building collapse and found a large tree into a single-family home. All occupants were safely out of the home.
