On Sunday April 22nd MAVFC #1 held a live-burn training exercise at the Carroll County burn building in Westminster, MD. New Market DVFD was invited to participate in the training which lasted from 0900 to 1430 hours. ET154(Lt. Reid) and CAR15(K. Sullivan) participated in the drill with 7 volunteers. Once at the burn building, Carroll Chief 1(Browning), went over the plans for the day and divided members from both companies into several crews. A total of 7 live fire scenarios were conducted throughout the day. Crews split into two engine companies, a rescue company, and a rapid intervention team. Fires were simulated on the first and second floors, as well as basement fires. Lunch was provided by the MAVFC. All attending learned valuable lessons in hose line deployment and crew communications. After training was finished, all units packed up and returned to station #1 to fill SCBA cylinders. NMDVFD would like to take this opportunity to thank MAVFC for their hospitality and the chance to train with our neighbors.
