By Recruiter Ben Harris
June 4, 2019

On June 4, 2019 at 1447 hrs New Market District Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to assist on a water search and rescue call in of the 15000 block of Lockwood Road in Washington County, in the Potomac River near Williamsport. Support 15, Boat 15, and Dive 15 responded with 7 volunteers and 1 Frederick County DFRS SWT. Upon arrival to the scene swift water techs quickly dressed into their dry suits to start assisting. Many surrounding jurisdictions were on the scene and searching for the victim in what was now to be a recovery mission. New Market Staff made the call to forgo launching the boat (since two were already in the water) and got into the water by foot to start the search.
As the search was going on divers from the dive team were in the process of suiting up in their suits. Within 20 minutes of the divers in the water the recovery mission was completed.

Prayers to the victim and their family in this incident.
