| New Market, MD – Crews from Rescue Squad 15 (RS15), staffed by New Market volunteers, and Engine 152 (E152), staffed by Frederick County DFRS personnel, handled several incidents throughout the day as call volume remained steady in the New Market area.
At approximately 1215 hours, units were dispatched for a reported struck natural gas line. First-arriving crews found an active leak and immediately began mitigation efforts.
RS15 and E152 worked together to suppress vapors in the area while awaiting the arrival of the gas company. RS15 personnel also conducted metering operations on nearby homes and businesses to ensure no hazardous readings were present and to safeguard the public.
Crews remained on the scene for roughly two hours until the gas company successfully clamped the damaged line and the area was deemed safe.
Chief 15C held incident command with support from Chief 15B during the operation.
No injuries were reported, and both volunteer and career personnel returned to service following the incident. |
