By Sergeant Matthew Thews
October 14, 2012
On Sunday October 14th beginning at 0800 hours the Battalion One companies staged a day of live burn training at the Frederick County Public Safety Training Center. New Market District VFD was the only company attending from outside of Battalion One. The Drill was hosted by Citizens Truck Company. RE153(Sgt. Thews) reported to the training with 5 volunteers and the crew participated in four different live burn scenarios. The simulations ranged from the basic single family house fire to complex fires where access had to be made from third story balconies via ladder. The scenarios challenged crews and company officers to think outside of the box. The training wrapped up around 1500 hours. Lunch from Firehouse Subs was provided for all attendees. A special thanks goes out to Citizens Truck Co. for their hospitality and the chance to train with Battalion One companies.
