On Thursday March 17th at 0950 hours, Box 23-2 was sounded for smoke in a house in the 9100 block of Belvedere Drive in Urbana. E152(FF3 Thews), RE153(DFRS Capt Newman) and C15-3(AFC Kennedy) responded on the call with 10 personnel. First arriving units found a two story house with fire in the basement. E152 (4th Due) stretched the 400' attack line to the rear to assist with knocking the fire in the basement. RE153 performed searches and assisted crews on the first floor with checking for extension. C15-3 was the division one supervision. The fire was quickly knocked and contained to several pieces of furniture in the basement. Unfortunately, two dogs were removed by crews, but didn't survive. Units cleared at 1100 hours.
