January 26, 2020

In the Spring of 2019, Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association's Dive Rescue Team was moved from the Woodsboro VFC to our station. Immediately the troops wasted no time diving into the rebirth of the team, under the command of Dive Commander Eaves. The team has worked hard to acquire the appropriate PPE, Apparatus and Training needed to get the team back up and running and at that they have been very successful, since the team has been moved to our station it has a no fail, no late and no understaffed response level. We are very excited to host the team. The team has been given a new Dive Vehicle, Thanks to Arcola VFD of Loudoun County, VA without their donation we wouldn't have been able to equip the team which a state of the art vehicle. Recently the team has graduated eleven (11) new team members to count as minimum staffing, they have completed training to include Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and Public Safety Diver just to be cleared as minimum staffing. Many of them have also been building their MFRI profiles taking courses such as Swiftwater Tech, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Rescue Technician, etc.. These divers will continue their training to include Ice Rescue, Full Face Mask Diver, Drysuit Diver, Deep Diver, Night Diver, Underwater Navigation, Wreck Diver and eventually Dive Master. New Market District VFC is excited to house this adventure and provide this service, specifically based on one of the teams biggest target hazards being in our first due are, being that of Lake Linganore, the team is a worthy investment for our membership.
